Heidi, an artist living in rural Goshen New Hampshire, ponders the potential impact of art. For the artist, once absorbed in the creative process, a mind-body connection gentles the heart and quite literally calms the spirit and transforms any stress or troubles into equanimous balance. Art, and the process of making art, regulates the nervous system. Art is more than just a pretty picture. Art stimulates curiosity.

The artist faces copious challenges within each artwork, in spatial reasoning, color theory, perspective, balance, texture, values, there is a lot to figure out! Each artist is bound to their creations, some spending hours, weeks and even months and years contemplating it’s creation. Then in one moment the artist lets go of this attachment that led to its creation and offers someone new to place their own meaning onto that same piece. There is art out there that can stop a person in their tracks demanding attention. And yet it still may not imbue that same reaction onto the next; the emotional response is in its entirety dependent on each individual viewing the work. For me, I simply paint what I love, I learn from the experience, grow & then do it again! Art for me is a lifelong love affair.
