Kim Logan

I believe that painting, at its best, has soul. My paintings are often much like a series of journal entries, visual documentation of my life. However, rather than capturing the literal form, my works represent something deeper than the photo realistic object. The experiences depicted on my canvases are real: those are my shoulders and my spine. However, to truthfully portray the intensity of my world, I must alter the visual landscape, representing not only what the eye may observe, but also the observations of the other senses. I use color and light to create mood, active brushwork to create movement. Whether commissioned or personal, in the end each work becomes a window into a unique view of the world: an individual view that we each possess and can relate to as humans.
