Vera Kaufman received her photography education at the Manchester Institute of Arts and Sciences in New Hampshire. Her courses included both black-and-white and color photography with additional training in darkroom procedures and studio portraiture. She also participated in black-and-white photography training with Gary Samson, a well-known New Hampshire portrait photographer and filmmaker.

Vera continued to pursue her interest in photography. At that time, she was involved in the antique art pottery business both as a dealer and collector. This experience gave her a unique perspective of form. Several of the images she took have been published in reference books on antique ceramics.

In 2007 Vera’s nature photos were on display at the Bedford Public Library for the juried exhibit "Wilds of Bedford". The Chelmsford Art Society chose her photograph "Misty Morning Milkweed" for a special calendar commemorating the 40th anniversary of the 4th of July Art Festival exhibit. Vera won two awards at the 4th of July Art Festival, first place in the category non-professional photography with "Hummingbird Hawk Moth 2" and Best of Show with "Hibiscus 1". February she had two photos on display in the Members Juried II Exhibition at the Concord Art Association and received a Greater Lynn Photographic Association Honor Award in their International Color Exhibition 2009. Vera won first place in the category for professional photography at the 4th of July Art Festival, with "New Harbor Fog". In 2010, Gallery Seven of Maynard, MA hosted the “Flor-Illusions” Exhibit shared with Robert Moll and Framers Market Gallery of Manchester, NH hosted a solo "Eye to Eye" Exhibit. In 2013 Vera had six images published in "New England Notebook" written by Chronicle's Ted Reinstein. In recent years, she has received numerous awards with the New England Camera Club Council and The Photographic Society of America. In winter 2022, Vera was honored to receive an achievement award with the Photographic Society of America for her “Pollinator Beetle”.
